Mathematical statement

Aim: What is a mathematical statement?
Answer:

Mathematical Statement:A statement that can be judged to be either false or true.
Examples:
-There are three statues of liberties- True
  -Chocolates comes from strawberries- False
-Africans are not from Africa- False
-Miami Heat basketball team is from Miami- True

Decide whether these are mathematical statements:
1. 2+2                                    Answer: No, needs more information to decide whether it is true of false
information such as the answer to the problem.

2. President Barrack Obama was born in Hawaii.             Answer: Yes, because in this statement it
expresses facts about Pres. Barrack Obama.

Open Statements:  Mathematical statements were their is a "variable".
Examples;
He is handsome  - This is a open statement because who is he and what makes him handsome.

Negations-"not": Negations are always the opposite of the original statement.
Examples:
-Original Statement: A clock can tell time -True
-Negation: A clock cannot tell time - False
                               -OR-
-Original Statement: Lemons are not sour -False
-Negation: Lemons are sour -True

In logic there is not only one statement at a time only but multiple statements or a sentence with more that one "variable" or subject:
Example:
-Paris is the home of the Eiffel tower and the Arc De Triomphe                                                                *True- because both statements toward the subject of the Eiffel tower and Arc De Triomphe are true, for a multiple statement to be true both statements have to be true.
